Zone Athlete Directors

Description
  • Two-Year Term (Max. of 2 Consecutive Terms)
  • Responsible for attending Zone Board meetings and providing athlete input, chairing Zone Athlete Committee, providing pre and post convention reports to Zone membership, maintaining a current list of LSC athlete reps withing the Zone, communicating with LSC Zone athlete reps, maintaining records for the next elected Zone rep, contributing content to the Zone website and/or social media accounts. ​
  • If desired, may additionally apply to serve as an athlete representative on a USA Swimming National Committee
Eligibility Requirements
  1. Within the 24 months before election, demonstrate that they are actively engaged in amateur athletic competition; and/or represented USA Swimming in competition at any of following meets within the past 10 years: Olympics, World Championships, Pan Pacific Championships, or Pan American Championships.
  2. Be an athlete member in good standing
  3. Have graduated high school or obtained an equivalent level of education
  4. Must hold registration in an LSC that is a member of the Zone at the time of their election
  5. Actively participate in one USAS Convention prior to their election.
  6. Not concurrently serving as a member of the Athletes' Executive Committee​​​
Commitment
  • Varies from ~2 to 6 hours monthly, with higher commitment in the summer and the week leading up to USA-S convention. (Accomodations may be requested for travel dates to USA-S National Convention.)
  • ​Must actively serve as a mentor to LSC athlete representatives within the Zone and attend the annual USA-S National Convention, as well as be available for Zone Director's Council meetings, meetings of the Zone Athlete Representatives Council, and quarterly AEC business meetings

  • ​Athletes looking to continue their LSC grassroots experience and provide contributions that will impact multiple LSCs.
  • The Zone Senior Athlete Rep position is intended as a developmental pipeline to expand event planning and legislative prowess, time management, and leadership skills, with a potential goal of serving as a member of the AEC. ​

Zone Junior Representative

Description
  • One-Year Term (Max. of 2 Consecutive Terms)
  • Responsible for attending Zone Board meetings and providing athlete input, serving as the vice chair of the Zone Athlete Committee, helping the Sr. rep with the maintence of records and list of current LSC athlete reps within the Zone. Shall also assist the Sr. rep with tasks and projects as requested.
  • If desired, may additionally apply to serve as an athlete representative on a USA Swimming National Committee​
Eligibility Requirements
  1. Within the 24 months before election, demonstrate that they are actively engaged in amateur athletic competition; and/or represented USA Swimming in competition at any of following meets within the past 10 years: Olympics, World Championships, Pan Pacific Championships, or Pan American Championships
  2. Be an athlete member in good standing
  3. Be at least sixteen years of age, or a sophomore in high school
  4. Must hold registration in an LSC that is a member of the Zone at the time of their election.
