Volunteer Paths

Athlete Paths:

As an LSC Athlete Representative, you can:
  • Build an Athletes’ Committee
  • Establish events such as an LSC Summit
  • Mentor new athlete representatives
Athletes’ Executive Committee Directed Sub-Committees or Task Forces
  • You may be appointed to serve on an AEC task force to assist with national leadership, events, or other initiatives.
Athletes’ Executive Committee
  • After two years of quality leadership, you are eligible to run for a position on the AEC
  • If you are elected, you will serve a term length of two (2) years
Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
  • Become a member at your university or for your conference, or nationally.
  • Per the NCAA: " Student-athletes have a voice in the NCAA through advisory committees at the campus, conference, and national level. Each committee is made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on campus."

Non-Athlete Paths:

Continue serving on your LSC Board
  • You can run for a non-athlete position & continue to use your voice!
  • Talk to your general chair about options & suggestions to serve
Coaching
  • There are many benefits to becoming a coach & being able to serve the sport you love. Talk to your coach or former coach about getting started!
  • Even if your full time job isn't coaching, there are still part-time opportunities available on many clubs for folks who want to give back
  • Additionally, there are options to serve as a Business Administrator for a swim club, if coaching isn’t for you
Officials
  • Being an official is another great way to give back to the sport. Who knows more about swimming than a current or former swimmer?
  • Officials typically begin as stroke and turn officials, and progress to starter, deck referee, and/or administrative official roles. You can contact their LSC Officials' chair to get involved.
