New Jersey Swimming
Hi Eastern Zone! My name is TJ Walsh, I am currently a freshman in college, and I’m running to be your Eastern Zone Junior Athlete Rep! I am running to be EZ Junior Rep because I am passionate about athlete governance and making a difference in the sport of swimming. I began my term in the midst of quarantine and was tasked with crafting guidelines for our reopening and working with local health officials to keep swimmers safe. I began working with our Governance Committee reviewing our policy manual and updating it to conform with our bylaws. I volunteered to chair our Finance Committee when it was without a leader, managing over $700,000 in assets. I worked with athletes from neighboring states in writing a letter to our respective governors, imploring them to reopen aquatic facilities under our proposed safety guidelines. I hosted NJ Swimming’s first athlete leadership summit to train the athlete leaders of tomorrow in my LSC. I was also recently appointed Operational Risk Coordinator for NJ Swimming, overseeing safety measures for my entire LSC. I have also represented EZ Athletes on Technical Planning, helping to ensure meets like Super Sectionals and Age Group Zones run smoothly. I have also served at the National level on Operational Risk, helping with our upcoming pending legislation and ensuring athlete safety. Being an athlete rep in high school allowed me the opportunity to give back to the sport I love, something I look to continue as your EZ Junior Rep!
